RiverEast Center
Project Details
Group Mackenzie provided full architecture and engineering design services for the renovation of the 99,500 SF RiverEast Center. Designers sought to create a high quality office development that preserved the character of the existing 1951 warehouse and integrated into the surrounding industrial area.
This award-winning adaptive reuse project earned LEED Gold certification from the U.S. Green Building Council. Sustainable products and design strategies were utilized throughout the project. The building systems maximize energy efficiency, minimize waste, and increase environmental quality. Double glass panels and light shelves along the building's south face help heat the interior spaces in the winter and reduce heat gain in the summer. Concrete removed for new windows is reused in the Clay Street Pedestrian Plaza as sculptures and planter walls.
In addition to serving as Group Mackenzie's corporate headquarters, the RiverEast Center houses two non-profits and seven businesses, including Coaxis, a leading software company.
